The announcements feature uses the Mai Post Grid to list the posts with category “Announcements.” These are informational posts, not events, so we don’t use the events shortcode.
To create an announcement, just create a new post and make its category “Announcements.” Note that the content for these is quite brief, and can contain links just like any other post. I’ve disabled the links to each announcement post itself, since there’s no reason to follow such a link: the entire post is displayed in its column on the home page.

Each new announcement you publish is displayed at the top of the announcements list, and the total number of announcements allowed on the home page is three.
